A number of US senators have expressed concerns that the military operation in Iran could drag on "for an indefinite period", CNN reports. White House officials briefed senators in a closed-door meeting on the Pentagon's expectations for the duration of the conflict, "Focus" specified.
The Trump administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have said they expect the strikes to last between three and five weeks, but according to senators, the White House has not announced an end date for the conflict.“The military has accomplished a lot. I think given the successes, I would hope for a quick end. And yet, it is unlikely that I would support a ground operation“, said Republican Josh Hawley.
Democrat Chris Murphy was much more extreme, stating that in his opinion the operation will continue "infinitely and forever", wrote CNN.
