Russia will do everything in its power to make a joint military operation by the United States and Israel against Iran “impossible“. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, News.bg reports.
“We are talking about our close friends. All those who suffer from American and Israeli aggression are our strategic partners and we maintain a dialogue with them. "We will do everything we can to work with other peace-loving members of the international community, including in the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly, to create an atmosphere that will make this operation absolutely impossible," he stressed at a meeting at the embassy.
Lavrov insisted that the conflict must be stopped immediately. According to him, the US understanding of the situation in the Middle East shows an intention to "finish off" the current regime in Iran.
Yesterday, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused the United States of using an imaginary threat from Iran as a pretext to overthrow the constitutional order in the country.
Russia has a strategic partnership treaty with Iran, and Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the "cynical assassination" of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who died on the first day of the war launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
