Italy will play a leading role in Ukraine's reconstruction, SIR (Servizio Informazione Religiosa) reported.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Rome announced the news, explaining that “the conversation allowed for an in-depth exchange of views on the progress of the process to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and on the next steps, also in light of the current developments in the Middle East crisis“.
“The two leaders“, the statement continued, “reaffirmed the importance, especially at this stage, of the unity of vision between European and American partners and the recognition of Europe's contribution to the peace process, the outcome of which concerns fundamental European interests and is crucial for the stability and security of the continent“.
“President Zelensky took the opportunity to thank Italy again for sending urgent supplies to support Ukraine's energy sector“, Meloni's office stressed. “In conclusion, the Prime Minister confirmed Italy's support for the Ukrainian nation, assuring that Italy will maintain a leading role in the country's reconstruction.“
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had discussed the conflict in the Middle East, the state of oil markets and the financial package promised by the European Union for Ukraine with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“I discussed with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni the situation around Iran and the challenges for the oil and fuel market due to the actions of the Iranian regime,“ Zelensky wrote on social networks.
