Former U.S. President Joe Biden boasted about his connections with other heads of state and said he has forgotten more information about Russian and Chinese leaders Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping than most people know.
„I personally know more heads of state than any other president in the history of the United States. That means I know a lot about other countries. After all, I have forgotten more about what Putin and Xi are doing than most people know. "I've met Putin," Biden, 83, said, speaking at the funeral of US civil rights leader Jesse Jackson in Chicago, Illinois.
Jackson became actively involved in the civil rights movement in the early 1960s, joining Martin Luther King Jr.'s civil rights movement in Alabama. He became one of King's leading allies and worked with him until his assassination.
In the 1980s, Jackson founded his own human rights organization, which opposed US President Ronald Reagan's policies on the civil and social rights of vulnerable groups in America. Jackson ran for president twice, in 1984 and 1988, in the Democratic primaries, finishing third and second respectively.
As part of his international work, he met with the leaders of Cuba and Venezuela, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, in an attempt to ease those countries' relations with the United States.
