Explosions in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi despite Iranian President's promise - 1

More explosions were heard in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi late Saturday local time, despite the Iranian president's suggestion earlier in the day that attacks across the Persian Gulf would cease.

According to witnesses, there were a series of loud explosions in Bahrain. It is unclear whether they were caused by strikes or interceptions, CNN said.

The official Iranian news agency Fars claimed there were “massive explosions at US bases in Bahrain“.

The National Security Council in the United Arab Emirates posted on X that “Air defense systems are currently responding to a missile threat“, advising people to “remain in a safe place“.

Earlier on Saturday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized to Gulf Arab countries for the impact of Iran's drone and missile attacks on US bases and said Iran would stop striking its neighbors unless it was attacked.

Later, Pezeshkian's office issued a “clarification“ that his message was clear: “if the countries of the region do not cooperate in America's attack on us, we will not attack them“.
