Two people were killed and 12 others were injured after a shell hit a residential area in the Saudi city of Kharj, the local civil defense service said, quoted by DPA, BTA reports.

According to the information, the dead were citizens of India and Bangladesh. The statement was published by the service on the social network “Ex“.

Earlier today, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had carried out strikes on radar systems in various locations, including in Kharj.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates categorically rejected allegations by Israeli media that it had participated in attacks against Iran amid the escalation in the Middle East.

The UAE Foreign Ministry said that the country was in a “state of self-defense“ against Iranian attacks. According to the department, the Emirates' air defenses responded to more than 1,400 missiles and drones.

The country's official position is that it does not want to be drawn into a conflict, but will defend its sovereignty.

A representative of the UAE government also stated to the “Jerusalem Post“ that the country did not participate in strikes against Iran as part of the Israeli and US military campaign against the Islamic Republic and the subsequent Iranian actions.

He criticized representatives of the Israeli government, who, according to him, spread such “rumors“ on the role of other countries.

Anwar Gargash, an advisor to UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, stressed that any measures to protect the state would be announced “clearly and publicly“, and not through media publications.

The Emirates' reactions came after reports in Israeli media, citing high-ranking government sources, that the UAE had participated in an attack on a seawater desalination plant in Iran.

If such information is confirmed, this would be the first attack by a Persian Gulf state against the Islamic Republic since the beginning of the conflict.

The UAE is located several hundred kilometers from the Iranian coast and only about 20 kilometers from the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The country has also become one of the targets of Iranian retaliation against the US-Israeli operation, as it is an ally of Washington and hosts US military facilities on its territory.
