Iran no longer willing to negotiate with US - 1

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with PBS that he does not believe that "the issue of negotiations with the Americans or renegotiations with the Americans will be put on the agenda", the "Jerusalem Post" reported, BTA reported.

According to Araghchi, the US has squandered potential for future negotiations by repeatedly attacking Iran during diplomatic talks - first in June last year, and then now.

"This year they tried to convince us that this time is different. They promised us that they had no intention of attacking us," Araghchi said, adding: "That's why I don't think talks with the Americans will be on the agenda again." The minister also denied that Iran was deliberately putting pressure on the United States and Israel by attacking oil production in other countries in the region. He said oil tankers were "afraid to pass through the Strait of Hormuz," but "Iran is not preventing them from sailing in this strait." Instead, the minister blamed US and Israeli aggression against Iran, saying their attacks had destabilized the region. "This is a war that has been imposed on us," Araghchi said, adding: "We are only defending ourselves. We are being attacked with aggression that is absolutely illegal. And what we are doing is an act of self-defense, which is legal and legitimate".

"Well, we have already warned everyone in the region that if the US attacks us, since we cannot reach American territory, we will have to attack their bases in the region, their facilities, their sites, their assets. As a result, the war will spread throughout the region", said the Iranian top diplomat, adding: "So these are the consequences, the consequences of the US aggression against us. We are not responsible for this".
