Moscow says: Donald Trump did not want a ceasefire in Ukraine - 1

Journalists asked Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to clarify the statement by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov that US President Donald Trump had called for a "quick ceasefire" in Ukraine. Trump's phone call with Vladimir Putin took place last night, the BBC recalled.

"No such conditions were set. This has already been discussed many times and all the conditions related to the ceasefire are well understood," Peskov said.

Moscow refuses to announce a ceasefire during the peace talks.

"But in general, everyone is really interested in a quick ceasefire. It's hard to argue with that," Peskov added (quoted by Interfax).

The trilateral talks involving the United States should continue. "The Americans are ready to continue their mediation efforts." The date and location of the next meeting remained unknown, the Kremlin spokesman said.

During their phone call, Trump and Putin did not discuss sanctions "in detail," Peskov said. The day before, the U.S. president had proposed lifting sanctions due to the war in the Middle East.

Peskov declined to comment on reports that Moscow had provided intelligence to Iran to carry out strikes on American targets.
