If the armed conflict in the Middle East is not stopped very quickly, it could escalate into a world war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Irish journalist Kylen Robertson, quoted by Ukrinform, BTA reported.
“If the war is not stopped immediately by someone, it could become protracted and grow into a world war“, Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president expressed the opinion that the world is already very close to a new global war.
“It is really very close to that. I do not see short operations in Iran. I see that more global challenges are ahead. If the war does not stop before the fall, it will continue“, Zelensky said. He added that Russia may sooner or later send units to help Iran.
“The world is not prepared from a technical point of view. Europe is not prepared enough - only some countries are on the way. The Germans are very fast, but that is not enough. This year there is no longer enough time to prepare for such challenges“, Zelensky said.
Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump suggested that the war in the Middle East could end soon and said that Iran “has no navy, no communications, no air force“, Ukrinform recalls.
