Trump on oil prices: They will fall. It's war, it happens. I expected worse - 1

US President Donald Trump believes that oil prices will soon fall more than expected, despite the ongoing US-Israeli operation against Iran.

“The market is doing well. I thought it would take some damage. But we probably took less than I expected. And we will get back on track very soon. Prices are falling quite significantly. and they will fall“, said the US prime minister during a visit to a refinery in Cincinnati, Ohio. “It's just a matter of war. It happens. "They're going to fall more than anyone realizes," the president said.

Trump said that major oil companies should use the Strait of Hormuz to transport energy resources.

"I think they should. I think they should use the Strait," he said, adding that the US military had destroyed 60 Iranian minefields.

"Look, we destroyed their navy, their air force, their entire air defense system, we destroyed 60 minefields," he told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House, possibly confusing information from US Central Command (CENTCOM), which said it had destroyed 16 Iranian minefields in the Strait of Hormuz. On Wednesday, the head of the command, Admiral Brad Cooper, said that since the operation began, the US had struck more than 5,500 targets in Iran, including 60 ships.

Trump threatened to destroy Iran's power grid within an hour if military action against the Islamic Republic escalated.

“We can hit areas of Tehran and other places. And if that happens, it will be virtually impossible for them to rebuild the country. But we don't want that“, the US president said, speaking to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington after returning from a trip to Ohio and Kentucky.

“We can dismantle their power grid within an hour. And it will take them 25 years to rebuild it“, the head of state added.
