A Russian court has sentenced four men to life in prison for the spring 2024 attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, AFP and TASS reported. The attack killed 150 people.
Eleven of the four bombers' accomplices were also given life sentences. Four other accomplices received sentences ranging from 22 years and 6 months to 19 years and 11 months.
The 2024 attack was the worst terrorist attack in Russia in nearly 20 years.
The attack was Tajik citizens Shamsidin Fariduni, Dalerjon Mirzopev, Mahamadsobir Fanzov and Sandakrami Rachabolizoda were convicted. The verdict was handed down by a military court in Moscow.
The bombers' assistants Isroil Islomov, Dilovar Islomov, Amichon Islomov and Alisher Kasimov are the only ones who did not receive life sentences. They were recognized as accomplices because they transferred money to the terrorists and provided them with a car and housing. All of them will serve the first 7 years of their sentences in prison, the next ones - in a penal colony.
In addition, the court fully satisfied all 27 civil claims filed by the injured and the victims' relatives.
The responsibility for the attack was claimed by "Islamic State - Khorasan", Reuters recalls. The trial was held behind closed doors, as is usual for similar terrorism cases in Russia.
