The conflict in the Middle East will not bring relief to Russia in its war in Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron said today during the visit of his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to Paris, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
At a joint press conference with Zelensky, the French head of state noted that it is strange to see Russia calling for a ceasefire in the Middle East while stubbornly refusing to accept one in Ukraine.
Macron said that France's support for Ukraine would remain unwavering and that he was determined to continue providing military assistance to Kiev.
Earlier today The French head of state announced a drone attack on French military personnel in the Erbil region of northern Iraq, killing one French soldier and wounding six others. He called the attack "unacceptable" and "unjustified" and stressed that France's position in the region was "defensive." At a press conference with Zelensky, Macron said he had demanded a full military analysis of the attack. Zelensky, for his part, said the US decision to ease sanctions on Russian oil would not contribute to peace but would only make Russia stronger. He warned that Ukraine was experiencing an increasingly acute shortage of air defense missiles. This week, Zelensky said that Gulf countries had used as many Patriot missiles in a few days as Kiev had received from Washington in four years.
The Ukrainian president did not specify where he had this data, Reuters reported.
