Israeli Army: War against Iran to continue for at least three more weeks - 1

The Israeli military plans to continue the campaign against Iran for at least three more weeks, army spokeswoman Effie Defrin said, quoted by DPA.

“There are thousands of targets ahead of us. We are ready, in coordination with our American allies, with plans at least until the Jewish holiday of Passover in about three weeks. And we have more detailed plans for even three weeks after that“, he told the American television channel CNN.

The Israeli army reported that the air force had launched more than 400 waves of strikes since the new military operations began on February 28, mainly targeting Iranian infrastructure. Defrin noted that "the Israeli military does not work on a timer or a schedule, but rather to achieve the goals set." The goal was to drastically weaken the Iranian regime, Brigadier General Defrin said.

Regarding the renewed military action in southern Lebanon, Defrin said that the Iranian-backed group "Hezbollah" decided not to participate in the 12-day war in June last year, but is now intervening. "In June, they understood that this was a limited campaign in Iran, so they did not attack. Now that all bets are on, they are joining in," he told CNN.

The Lebanese group "Hezbollah" said it had struck with a "modern missile" on the Palmachim air base in central Israel, as Israeli forces wage a large-scale campaign of airstrikes against Lebanon, Agence France-Presse reported.

In a statement, "Hezbollah" said the base, located south of Tel Aviv, is about 140 km from Lebanon's border with Israel.

"Hezbollah" also claimed responsibility for other attacks on targets in northern Israel, as well as against Israeli troops who entered Lebanese territory near the border.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that since March 2, Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed 850 people, including 107 children. Among the victims are 66 women and 32 medical workers, the ministry said. According to Lebanese authorities, a total of 2,105 people have been injured during the two weeks of hostilities.
