The United States currently has sufficient funds for military action against Iran, but if necessary, the administration may consider asking Congress for additional funding.
This was stated by Kevin Hassett, head of the White House National Economic Council, in an interview with CBS.
According to him, the White House Office of Management and Budget, headed by Russell Vote, deals with budgetary issues for the military operation in the Middle East, and it is this agency that should plan future spending.
“We don't necessarily need anything additional“, Hassett added.
He shared preliminary data showing that the United States has already spent approximately $12 billion on military action against Iran, but did not specify whether this was for the entire operation, which has been going on for more than two weeks, or for any specific phase.
In documents submitted to Congress about its actions in the Middle East, the US administration estimated its costs at at least $11.3 billion in the first six days of the strikes on Iran. The “New York Times“ writes that this figure apparently does not include many costs – such as the transfer of military equipment and personnel in preparation for the special operation.
