A total of 72 people wanted by Turkey in connection with suspicions of various crimes, some of which have been issued with a red notice by Interpol, have been detained and handed over to the Turkish authorities by a number of countries, according to a statement posted on the Turkish Ministry of Interior's social media page, BTA reported.
The statement states that 32 of them were wanted with a red notice by Interpol.
The operations were carried out in coordination with the Turkish Interpol Directorate under the General Directorate of Security of Turkey, the Ministry of Justice and the competent institutions in various countries.
The majority of the wanted persons, 54 people, were detained in Georgia, and the rest – in Germany, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Argentina, Colombia, Iraq, Russia, Sweden and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognized only by Ankara.
All detained suspects were extradited to Turkey and handed over to the Turkish authorities.
