Unidentified drones were spotted over the military base in Washington, where US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth live, The Washington Post reported.
According to sources of the publication, “several drones have been spotted over the Fort McNair military base overnight in the past 10 days“.
US authorities “have not determined their origin“. The publication notes that the administration in Washington fears retaliatory strikes by Iran against “officials on American soil“.
Security measures were tightened in response to the presence of the drones. US authorities considered evacuating Rubio and Hegseth, but did not.
Potential measures in response to the incident were later discussed at a meeting at the White House.
