Orban is determined to continue blocking aid to Ukraine, Tusk said on departure from Brussels - 1

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today, on departure from Brussels to Warsaw, after the end of the EU summit, that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is determined to continue blocking aid to Ukraine, Polish national television reported, quoted by BTA.

Europe has an increasing problem with Orban, Tusk also said.

At the EU summit in Brussels, 25 member states, excluding Hungary and Slovakia, supported the conclusions on the issue of further aid to Ukraine. However, without unanimity, the EU's aid to Kiev in the amount of 90 billion euros is blocked.

At a briefing he gave before flying to Warsaw, Donald Tusk emphasized that it was not possible to convince the Hungarian prime minister to support aid to Ukraine.

Tusk emphasized that "from a Polish and European point of view, aid to Ukraine is, first and foremost, a chance to stop Russia and its aggression in Ukraine."

Officials in Brussels will look for other ways, but this is not easy. It is precisely on this issue that unanimity is needed to change the financial framework. And that is why Europe has an increasing problem with Orban, Tusk pointed out.

It is quite important that the EU's defense priorities directly mention the eastern flank or our border, the Polish prime minister also said.
