Iran currently has no oil tankers at sea, and the country has no excess energy resources to export.
This was stated by a representative of the Ministry of Oil of the Islamic Republic in response to the proposal of the US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bennett to exempt Iranian crude oil from sanctions, the Mehr news agency reported.
“Iran has practically no oil in tankers at sea and no surplus to supply international markets“, he said.
Tehran views the proposal of the American official as a “psychological game by the US Treasury“.
“Bennett's statement is aimed solely at instilling hope in buyers and controlling market sentiment“, the Iranian Oil Ministry said.
