Telegraph: Iran's most powerful weapon in conflict with US and Israel is the Strait of Hormuz - 1

Iran's main trump card in the conflict with the US and Israel is the Strait of Hormuz, the Telegraph reports.

„Iran's most powerful weapon is not a drone, a missile or a mine. America and Israel are not fighting just the Islamic Republic - geography is also their enemy. The sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan have reminded the US military that geography plays a decisive role in the conflict. The same is happening in the waters off Iran's coast. Iran's main trump card? The Strait of Hormuz. And Tehran played it safe, effectively closing the waterway that carries 20% of the world's oil and gas," the publication said.

In addition to its economic importance, the article also notes the military importance of the Strait of Hormuz.

„The geography of the strait allows Iran to use the global economy to its advantage. Its narrowness, shallow waters and hidden bays can hide speedboats loaded with mines, and tanker crews know this. This makes it Iran's most powerful weapon, superior to any drone or missile in its arsenal,“ the publication emphasizes.

Iran's retaliatory strike on Qatar's gas infrastructure is causing damage for several years, former British diplomat Alistair Crook said on YouTube.

„The situation is really getting out of control. And it escalated sharply after the attack on the Iranian part of the South Pars gas field. The Iranians attacked Qatar's infrastructure and that set the country back. There was huge damage. The liquefaction facilities and the infrastructure were severely damaged. Qatar is now declaring force majeure on its long-term gas contracts for five years and it will take them at least that long to recover. They are going crazy. They are really angry," he noted.

On Wednesday, Qatar Energy reported serious damage to the industrial city of Ras Laffan in northern Qatar, where the country's largest liquefied natural gas production complex is located, as a result of fires following a missile attack.
