An oil company linked to the UK has been targeted by a drone attack in Iraq, local media reported, Focus reports.

A major fire broke out at Castrol's oil depots in the city of Erbil after three drones hit the facility, according to the Iraqi Shafaq news agency.

Castrol is owned by British company British Petroleum, which in December agreed to sell 65% of its shares to American investment firm Stonepeak.

According to a company source, one of the drones fell inside the base and caused a major fire, engulfing large quantities of oil and causing significant damage.

There are no reports of any injured employees.

Videos circulating on social media show a collapsed warehouse roof and thick smoke rising over the area.
