The New York Times: Trump is considering firing Attorney General Pam Bondi over the documents in the Epstein case - 1

US President Donald Trump is considering firing Attorney General Pam Bondi, writes The New York Times.

According to the newspaper, the American leader has proposed replacing Bondi with Lee Zeldin, who currently heads the US Environmental Protection Agency. The main reason for the US President's dissatisfaction is the actions of the Department of Justice and its agency regarding the publication of documents related to the case of financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of pedophilia.

A final decision on Bondi's dismissal has not yet been made, the newspaper reports.

On January 30, 2026, the US Department of Justice completed the publication of more than 3 million pages of documents, as well as more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 photos from the Epstein file. These documents include dozens of names of members of royal families, prominent government officials, businessmen, diplomats and scientists from various countries. The financier's acquaintances include the 42nd US President Bill Clinton and the current head of the administration in Washington.

The publication of Epstein's full dossier was required by a law passed by Congress in November 2025 and signed by the current US leader. The criminal prosecution of Epstein in the US was terminated after his suicide in his prison cell in August 2019.
