Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth has issued a public appeal to the American people to pray “every day, on their knees” for military victory in the Middle East “in the name of Jesus Christ.”
His statement was part of Hegseth’s broader rhetoric that ties American military might to a divine mission and Christian morality.
Hegseth urged families to pray in their homes, schools and churches for victory in battle and for the safety of soldiers.
He described US military actions against Iran and other targets as defense of “Christian nations” and defined the mission as spiritually grounded.
In his prayers he often used Psalm 144:1: “Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle“.
