Zimbabwean real estate agents have started hiring staff with Chinese language skills amid the growing number of wealthy clients from China, Bloomberg reported.
According to the agency, Chinese citizens are increasingly buying homes in the capital Harare, with prices ranging from $500,000 to $2 million. Chinese immigrants often pay in cash, which also ensures faster transactions. As a result, some real estate agents report double-digit increases in house prices.
It is noted that unlike other popular destinations for emigration of Chinese citizens in Zimbabwe, those moving to Zimbabwe are mainly managers and executives of mines and other high-income companies, amid rapidly developing cooperation between the two countries. “Chinese investments have led to significant changes in the economic and social landscape of the country as a whole“, the agency quoted a source from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Finance as saying.
