British police have arrested another man in connection with the arson of ambulances belonging to the Jewish community in North London, authorities said today, quoted by Reuters.
His arrest took place at a London court, where three men already charged in the case - 20-year-old Hamza Iqba, 19-year-old Rehan Khan and a 17-year-old boy whose name cannot be revealed - appeared. They are accused of setting fire to four ambulances belonging to the Jewish volunteer emergency service "Hatzola" on March 23 while they were parked near a synagogue in the neighborhood of "Golders Green" in the north of London.
The country's Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the incident at the time as a “deeply shocking anti-Semitic arson“.
A multinational military group linked to Iran, called the “Islamic Movement of the Right Hand People“, has claimed responsibility for the incident, the website “Site Intelligence“ reported. According to the website, the group is behind similar fires in Europe.
Counter-terrorism officers are leading the investigation in Britain, but the incident is not currently being treated as a terrorist act.
