South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) has supported claims that Kim Jong-un's daughter will succeed him as supreme leader of North Korea, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
“This is not an assessment based simply on signs, but on reliable intelligence data“, said NRIS director Lee Yeon-seok during a parliamentary hearing. Kim's daughter is believed to be 13 or 14 years old and is named Kim Ju-ae. She has recently appeared in public alongside her father at events.
According to South Korean intelligence, the aim is to dispel doubts about whether a woman can lead North Korea, which has been ruled exclusively by men.
Officially, little is known about Kim Jong-un's daughter, and North Korean media has not confirmed her name. Former basketball star Dennis Rodman, who met Kim in North Korea in 2013, said her name is Ju-e.
According to unconfirmed reports, Kim also has other children, including a son who will be introduced to the public at a later stage.
