Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president's special representative for investments and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), ironically stated that NATO could face a bleak future amid the conflict in the Middle East, TASS reports.
Dmitriev commented on the White House press secretary's remarks at a regular press briefing.
"US President Donald Trump on NATO: "They were tested and failed". White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt: "NATO has turned its back on the American people". "A bleak future for a failed NATO," he wrote in an English-language post on X.
Leavitt also noted that the American leader will discuss the possibility of Washington leaving the North Atlantic Alliance at his upcoming meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the coming hours.
According to her, Trump believes that the war between the US and Israel against Iran was a test for NATO that failed.
