The Israeli army announced the “elimination“ of members of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced.
According to the IDF, on the night of April 11, troops carried out attacks “on terrorist infrastructure sites“ in the southern part of the country. During the operation, they found Hezbollah members in one of the buildings, and a gunfight broke out between the two sides.
Two soldiers were injured in the operation and taken to hospital.
On 9 April, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the cabinet to begin peace talks with Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah.
The parties agreed to hold talks on 14 April, mediated by the US State Department. Later, the Israeli ambassador stated that the country was not ready for a ceasefire against Hezbollah and would not discuss this option in the talks.
