China expressed hope that Iran and the US will continue to observe their ceasefire even after their failed talks in Pakistan, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.
These talks in themselves "are a step towards de-escalation of the situation", said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun during a regular press conference.
"China hopes that the parties concerned will abide by the temporary ceasefire agreement, continue to resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means, avoid the resumption of hostilities, and create conditions for the early restoration of peace," he said.
