Prime Minister Viktor Orban will not attend the informal summit of EU leaders scheduled for April 23 and 24 due to commitments related to the transfer of power in Hungary, the MTI agency reported, quoted by BTA.

Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs János Boka announced on social networks that since the meeting is informal and is not expected to lead to the adoption of decisions or written conclusions, the prime minister has not appointed his deputy. Hungary will also not be represented at a political level.

According to Boka, the agenda of the meeting includes the crisis in the Middle East, its impact on Europe, as well as issues related to the next seven-year EU budget. The minister stressed that Hungary's positions on these issues are already well known and remain unchanged.

The office of the President of the European Council has been informed of the Hungarian absence. Despite the lack of participation, Boka said that Budapest will be informed of the results of the meeting.
