Iran considers all Islamic countries in the Middle East to be friendly, and the strikes on US targets on their territory were in self-defense, said President Masoud Pezeshkian.
„The Islamic Republic of Iran considers all Muslim countries to be its brothers, and this position is based on the practice of the Prophet Muhammad. At the same time, the recent strikes on US military bases in the region were carried out as part of defensive measures,“ he said during a meeting with Pakistan's Armed Forces Commander Asim Munir.
Pezeshkian also expressed the opinion that the countries in the region can solve problems collectively, relying on “religious and cultural commonalities“, as, according to him, Europe is doing “through the NATO mechanism“.
The President of the Islamic Republic stressed that the conflict in the Middle East is not beneficial to any of the countries. He noted that the Islamic Republic is committed to diplomatic solutions to the current situation, but added that the country will always be ready to fight for its sovereignty.
In conclusion, the Iranian President expressed gratitude to the leadership and people of Pakistan for their support for the country and mediation in achieving a ceasefire.
