Russia hits Ukraine's largest port on the Danube - 1

A Russian drone attack overnight damaged port infrastructure in Ukraine's largest port on the Danube - Izmail, and one of the drones entered Romanian territory, Ukrainian and Romanian authorities said today, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

The port is located in the southwestern tip of Ukraine, with Romanian territory on the other side of the Danube. It has become an important and frequently attacked logistics center for Ukraine during the war.

The attack caused fires that were quickly contained by emergency services. Administrative and industrial buildings, as well as railway infrastructure facilities, were damaged, the Ukrainian Ministry of Community and Territorial Development reported.

"Attacks on port infrastructure in the region have been continuing for several days now," the ministry said on Telegram. The agency said there were no injuries.

Ukrainian authorities said the port had not stopped operating.

The air force said Russia had fired a ballistic missile and 172 drones at Ukraine between 6 p.m. yesterday and this morning.

Air defense units shot down or neutralized 147 drones, but the missile and 20 drones hit eight sites, they added.

The governor of the Odessa region said at least six residential buildings were hit and added that the attack also caused a fire in a Danube nature reserve.

The Romanian Defense Ministry said its radar systems had detected a drone that violated national airspace during last night's Russian attack on Ukraine.
