Iran reports first revenue from fees in the Strait of Hormuz - 1

A senior Iranian MP said that the Strait of Hormuz is already bringing revenue to Tehran through introduced transit fees, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hamidreza Hajibabai, quoted by Tasnim news agency, announced that the first proceeds have already been deposited into the central bank's account. Other Iranian media outlets also reported the news without providing further details.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier announced the opening of the strait to commercial ships, but the situation remains unclear.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later said that Iran would close the strait until the US blockade was lifted, urging shipowners to comply with the authorities' instructions.

For its part, Washington warned that restrictions on Iranian ports would remain in place until a final peace agreement is reached.

Iranian authorities have also questioned Donald Trump's statements on the situation in the region, describing them as unreliable.
