Iran's Internet Outages Are Causing Daily Losses of Up to 50 Trillion Rials — which is equivalent to about $31 million.

This was revealed by Jahangir Aghazadeh.

He is the head of the Internet and Data Transfer Commission at the Tehran ICT Guild Organization, Iran International reported.

Aghazadeh added that about a fifth of the workforce in digital companies is facing potential layoffs.

The internet outage in Iran has now reached 58 days and, according to NetBlocks, is unprecedented both in Iran and globally.

NetBlocks reported on Sunday morning that the outage had exceeded 1,368 hours in its ninth week, adding that the restrictions continue to hamper independent journalism across the country.
