Part of Charles III's speech to Congress leaked: Our peoples share a duty to compassion and promote peace - 1

In his speech to the US Congress, Britain's King Charles III will highlight the historic cooperation between the two countries, which he says promotes peace.

This is stated in excerpts from the monarch's speech, quoted by the British television channel Sky News, citing a Buckingham Palace spokesman.

“Our two countries have always found ways to unite“, the king will say in his speech, which is expected to last approximately 20 minutes. Charles III will also emphasize that the ties between the two countries in the fields of defense, intelligence and security “are measured not in years, but in decades“.

His Majesty believes that the people of both countries share “a generosity of spirit and a duty to cultivate compassion, promote peace, deepen mutual understanding and value people of all faiths and those of no faith“, a spokesman for the presidential office said.

The first speech by a British monarch in more than 30 years to be delivered at the Capitol will conclude with a reference to the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence from Great Britain, which is celebrated this year. Charles III believes that this event paves the way for “reconciliation and renewal“ in relations between the two countries, marking the beginning of “one of the greatest alliances in human history“.

The first speech in history to be delivered to the US Congress was delivered by Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), the mother of the current British monarch. This occurred during her 13-day state visit to the United States in 1991.
