Iran's Supreme Leader: Persian Gulf will have a "bright future" without US presence - 1

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said that the Persian Gulf could have a "bright future" without the presence of the United States. This was done in a written address, distributed by Iranian state television and quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

According to him, after the start of the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, a completely new historical page is now being written for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Khamenei stressed that Tehran intends to take a leading role in ensuring security in the region and to stop what he called "the enemy's abuses" of the key sea route.

According to him, the new model of management and control in the Strait of Hormuz will bring stability, economic progress and more tranquility to all Persian Gulf countries.

The statement comes against the backdrop of ongoing tension around one of the most important energy routes in the world, through which a significant part of global oil and gas supplies pass.
