Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Moscow may offer the West to lift some sanctions against Russian companies in exchange for a ceasefire with Ukraine, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.
Zelensky made this suggestion in an interview with Bloomberg.
"I think that Russia may raise the issue of a ceasefire in exchange for lifting sanctions against certain companies. I know that they are raising the issue of lifting the sanction related to (access to the international payment system) SWIFT so that their banks can operate. This is a big risk for Ukraine," Zelensky said.
He called on the United States and Europe to maintain sanctions against Russia and not give in to Moscow's demands to ease them.
The Ukrainian president also noted that invitations to Trump's envoys - Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner - to visit Kiev still stand. Zelensky added that the two envoys are in contact with their Ukrainian counterparts by phone.
