US President Donald Trump revealed that the secret weapon of the US military, the “Discombobulator“, completely disabled the military equipment of Venezuela during the kidnapping of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
“Our military is unmatched. You know, when we attacked Venezuela, their equipment... nothing worked. The equipment was good, but it was “discombobulated“, Trump noted.
“Do you understand what that means? They press buttons and nothing works. They say: “What the hell is going on?“ They hear this strange buzzing sound coming from above.“
“It's amazing how great our military is,“ he added.
“Discombobulator“ is the term used by President Donald Trump in early 2026 to describe a secret American weapon that was used to neutralize Venezuelan air defenses and electronics during the operation to capture Nicolas Maduro.
“The Discombobulator“ is described as a non-lethal high-tech device that temporarily “disorients“ or excludes electronic systems and military equipment.
Trump first mentioned the term in an interview with the “New York Post“, emphasizing that the technology had rendered Venezuelan missiles useless without requiring their physical destruction.
The word comes from the English slang word discombobulate (to confuse, to disturb). According to analysts, Trump often uses such simplified and sonorous names for complex military technologies to make them more memorable for the general public. Despite official statements, the detailed technical characteristics of the “discombobulator“ remain top secret.
Meanwhile, Venezuela signed a memorandum of cooperation with the American companies Overseas Oil Company and Crossover Energy Holding. The signing ceremony at the presidential palace in Miraflores was attended by presidential envoy Delcy Rodriguez.
“The interests of the United States and Venezuela intersect, and we can build on this complementarity to promote the common good of the American and Venezuelan people“, Rodriguez said on Venezolana de Televisi´n.
She welcomed a delegation of American businessmen led by Jarrod Eigen, executive director of the White House National Energy Domination Council, and asked them to inform US President Donald Trump of “Venezuela's readiness to build a solid foundation for a long-term relationship with the United States“.
The main objective of the meeting between Rodriguez, the management of the state-owned oil and gas company Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) and the Ministry of Hydrocarbons with the American delegation was to strengthen the constructive program in the energy, mining and trade sectors, which the two countries are developing based on the principles of mutual respect, the press service of the presidential commissioner reported.
