The Azerbaijani parliament has suspended cooperation with the European Parliament in all areas due to its anti-Azerbaijani activities, the press service of the Milli Mejlis (parliament) reported.
„The Milli Mejlis adopted a decision on the anti-Azerbaijani activities of the European Parliament. The document was read out at a plenary session of the parliament by Deputy Speaker Ziyafat Askerov. According to the decision, the Milli Mejlis suspends cooperation with the European Parliament in all areas“, the statement said.
The Milli Mejlis has established a committee to make decisions on the activities of the European Parliament against Azerbaijan. Ziyafat Askerov was appointed as the chairman of the committee, and Fazil Mustafa, Mubariz Gurbanli, Tahir Mirkishili, Tural Ganjaliyev, Zhala Aliyeva and Sabina Khasaeva were appointed members.
Speaking at the plenary session, Chairwoman Sahiba Gafarova recalled that the Azerbaijani parliament had previously been forced to suspend relations due to the adoption of biased documents by the European Parliament. However, following the efforts of the European Parliament, a decision was made in September 2016 to restore relations.
“Unfortunately, the last 10 years have shown that the European Parliament has no intention of giving up its biased actions against Azerbaijan. The restoration of our territorial integrity has further intensified the actions of the European Parliament against Azerbaijan. All this shows the true principles on which this institution operates,“ the Chairwoman noted.
