The Russian Rostov region was subjected to a new wave of air strikes on the night of August 23. According to an official statement by the governor of the region, Yuriy Slyusar, the air defense (ADF) systems on duty are destroyed about 30 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over three main areas: Gornodonsky, Millerovsky and Chertkovsky.
The attack comes just a day after another massive strike in the same region that neutralized nearly 140 drones.
Local authorities confirmed that the operation to repel the attack led to incidents on the ground due to falling debris from the devices. In the Millerovo region, fragments of a collapsed drone caused a fire in dry grasslands, which is in the process of being localized by emergency teams. Damage to the transport infrastructure has been registered in the Chertkovo region — Debris has disconnected the contact network of a backup railway line, but teams have already managed to restore power to the track. According to initial data from the Emergency Service, no civilians were injured.
The Security Service and military departments continue to assess the extent of material damage, and a drone alert remains in effect in some of the affected municipalities. The current escalation is part of the increased airstrikes on the Russian border regions in the second half of August 2026.
