Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held an emergency meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Justice, after Nationalist Movement Party (PND) leader Devlet Bahceli warned him about the possible coup attempt, Sabah reports.
The Ankara General Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against three police officers from the capital's administration for their involvement in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization. Their houses have been searched.
Erdogan's ally Bahceli said there could be a conspiracy and removing a few policemen would not solve anything. Bahceli warned about the possibility of a repeated coup attempt in the country.
In 2016, there was a coup attempt in Turkey that was put down in a few hours. 241 people died and over 2,000 were injured in clashes across the country.
More than 40,000 people were arrested in Turkey on suspicion of involvement in the coup. A state of emergency was introduced in the country for several months.
