Three Varna residents have been arrested and charged with making fake documents in various European countries.
In large parking lots, the men placed their own QR codes on top of the original ones and deceived customers into thinking they were paying for their parking, when in fact they were providing their personal data to the fraudsters.
The men, aged 63, 53 and 37, were also convicted with criminal records.
A large amount of money, drugs and equipment was found in their homes.
"The payer is redirected to a website that imitates the actual parking meter website, to another one that is controlled by third parties. By scanning it, entering his data, he provides it to third parties", said Dean Goranov, General Directorate of Anti-Corruption.
"The group operated outside the territory of the country, evidence is to be collected through the mechanisms of the European Investigation Order", added Radoslav Lazarov, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office - Varna.
