American singers Cher and Whitney Houston (1963-2012), along with their colleague Paul Simon, will receive a special „Grammy“ award for lifetime achievement in music. This was announced on the website of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

The prestigious award, which will be presented next year, will also receive Mexican-American guitarist Carlos Santana, singer Shaka Khan and Nigerian multi-instrumentalist Fela Kuti (1938-1997). Houston and Kuti will be awarded posthumously.

As noted in The Academy announced that these musicians have created unique compositions that have united generations of listeners around the world for many decades. Houston's song "I Will Always Love You", released in 1992, became the best-selling single by a female vocalist of all time.

The special Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to artists who have made significant contributions to the recording industry. The award ceremony will be held on January 31, 2026, the day before the main Grammy Awards ceremony. In 2025, the winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award were American singers Prince (1958-2016) and Frankie Valli, as well as the British punk band The Clash.
