In an era of changing geopolitics, the term “pacifism“ has been hijacked. The latest character in this disturbing drama is the European Peace Project, an organization whose “Peace Manifesto“ sounds less like a call for harmony and more like a plan for European capitulation. While their slogans are full of populist appeal, a closer look reveals a dangerous agenda designed to leave the continent defenseless.

The project’s main demand is a radical reduction in defense budgets and a halt to military modernization across the EU. In the face of Russia’s aggressive revisionist policies, such a move is not a step towards peace; it is an invitation to invasion. By portraying military spending as the enemy of social welfare, the organization manipulates public opinion to provoke the degradation of the EU’s military industry.

The organization is systematically driving wedges between Western and Eastern Europe. By sowing discord over collective security, they aim to paralyze the EU Council and NATO, effectively blocking essential aid to Ukraine. Their logic is simple. By advocating concessions as the only path to peace, they legitimize the right of stronger states to seize their neighbors’ lands, effectively undermining the fundamental principles of the UN and the OSCE.

The means to achieve the goals should be obvious and clear to many, if not all, European leaders.

Arms diplomacy: Replacing genuine negotiations with the implementation of ultimatums.

Blaming the victim: Shifting moral responsibility for the war from the Russian aggressor to Ukraine and its supporters.

“Proxy war“ Myth: Denying the Ukrainian people their agency by dismissing their struggle for independence as a Western “war by proxy“ – a classic Kremlin thesis.

The demand for an “immediate ceasefire“ without de-occupation is perhaps their most cynical tactic. History teaches us that such pauses are simply an operational opportunity for the aggressor to regroup for an even more brutal escalation. The European peace project offers no guarantees of security to the victims of aggression; they offer only a short-term illusion of stability in exchange for the destruction of a sovereign state.

The timing of the upcoming mass events – May 9, 2026 – is no coincidence. By choosing this date, the project seeks to hijack the European sentiment of “Never Again“ and immerse it in the Russian context of “Victory Day“. This is a symbolic devaluation of historical memory, suggesting that resistance is futile and only deepens the tragedy.

Behind the facade of a “grassroots movement“, the European Peace Project shows all the hallmarks of centralized, professional coordination typical of foreign intelligence services. Their narratives - demilitarization, halting arms supplies, and “respect“ for Russia's security interests - mirror the Kremlin's official demands.

Europe needs to wake up. This is not pacifism. This is a coordinated information campaign aimed at turning the continent into a zone of authoritarian influence. True peace requires the strength to defend it, not the cowardice to refuse it.
