World ranking leader Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) began the defense of her title at the UTA 1000 hard court tennis tournament in Miami (USA) with a prize fund of 9.4 million dollars.

Sabalenka, who seeks to become the fifth tennis player of all time to triumph in Miami for the second year in a row, prevailed 7:6(5), 6:4 in the second round over American Anne Li in 1 hour and 42 minutes.

The number 1 ranked champion admitted that although she was not satisfied with her overall level of play, she was pleased with her reaction to the difficulties. She squandered a 4-1 lead in the first set, which she took after a tiebreak, and in the second half she led 3-1 and won the match.
