The Acting Minister of Sports: The need for this facility was glaring - 1

I am extremely happy that there is such a facility. The need for it was glaring. We have been waiting for something like this for many years and what has been built is truly fantastic. This was what the Acting Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev told BTA about the opening of the largest motor sports track in the Balkans, which is located near Samokov “A1 Motor park“.

He expressed hope that the new facility will attract more tourists to the region and many people who love motor sports will come and drive, and improve their skills. “There is now a place where Bulgarian talents can develop their qualities in a safe and controlled environment“, added the acting minister.

He pointed out that he is grateful to the investors and that until now the state has not been able to build such a facility. What the ministry has helped with is that they have registered the track as a sports facility and a meeting is coming up to discuss with the investors how they could partner in the future.

Today, the most modern motor sports track in Eastern Europe, "A1 Motor Park", was opened near Samokov, which is also the largest on the Balkan Peninsula. The track is four kilometers long. The width of the straights is 12 meters, and the width in the turns is 15 meters. The number of spectators can reach from 25,000 to 30,000. The track was built in a few months. The first sod was broken on March 10, and construction begins a week later, event hosts said.
