Hermannstadt took an important step towards remaining in the elite of Romanian football.
Bozhidar Chorbadzhiyski and Antoni Ivanov's team defeated Botosani 3-0, and one of the goals was scored by former CSKA and Levski striker Sergiu Bus.
Chorbadzhiyski and Ivanov started as starters for Hermannstadt and remained on the field until the final whistle. With the success, the team from Sibiu overtook Unirea (Slobozia) and is now in 14th place in the standings.
Chorbadzhiyski could have opened the scoring in the 28th minute, but he shot inaccurately with his head after a wonderful cross from the right flank by Antoni Ivanov. Just three minutes later, the hosts launched a quick counterattack, with Cristian Neguts passing to Aurelien Citu, who made no mistake. Another chance for Corbadzhiyski followed, but his shot hit the post.
In the 59th minute, Bush jumped behind the Botosani defense and unperturbed, made it 2:0, and in the 72nd minute, Dragos Albu decided everything in favor of the team led by Dorinel Munteanu. Shortly before the end, Eduard Florescu from the home team received a red card.
Kisvarda and Ferencváros drew 1:1 in a match from the 27th round of the Hungarian championship.
Tonislav Yordanov remained on the bench for the home team and did not appear in the game, while his teammates deservedly reached a point against the giants from Budapest.
The visiting coach Robbie Keane made a lot of changes in the lineup after the heavy loss with 0:4 to Braga and the elimination in the round of 16 of the Europa League. Before the break, Fradi had the initiative and took the lead in the 15th minute with a beautiful goal by Franko Kovačević.
Kisvarda was better on the field in the second half. Denes Dybush made some good saves, but he was unable to prevent Bogdan Melnyk's equalizer in the 63rd minute. The Ukrainian midfielder fired a volley from the edge of the penalty area to make it 1-1.
The draw left Ferencváros three points behind leaders Győr, who have played one game more, but Kisvárda are in 6th place in the table.
