Jorge Martin triumphs in MotoGP in Austin - 1

The Spaniard Jorge Martin with Aprilia triumphed in the sprint race in Austin (Texas), the third round of the MotoGP season. Although only 10 laps long, the race at the “Track of the Americas“ offered many twists and dramatic moments from the start to the finish, BTA reports. The race began with an incident on the first lap, in which two of the favorites were eliminated - world champion Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo) and the winner of the qualification Fabio di Gianantonio (VR46). The two collided at the start and went off the track. Di Gianantonio retired due to engine damage, while Marquez continued, but finished a lap behind.

A little later in the race, the leader in the general classification Marco Bedzecki (Aprilia Racing) also retired, falling after a mistake in a corner while moving in second position. On the penultimate lap, Joan Mir (Honda) also lost control and was eliminated from the points race.

In the conditions of this chaos, Jorge Martin took the best advantage. The Aprilia rider made a decisive attack at the beginning of the tenth lap and overtook Francesco Banaia (Ducati Lenovo), who had been leading until that moment. The Italian was unable to respond and finished second, 0.755 seconds behind the winner. Third place went to Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM) 2.484 seconds behind.

After the final, Martin also had an accident after falling during his victory lap while trying to lift the front tire. Fortunately, without consequences.

With his success, the Spaniard topped the general classification with 57 points. Second is Marco Bedzecki with 56, and third – Pedro Acosta with 49 points.
