Russia wants a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
However, he warned that Moscow would continue military operations if Ukraine refuses to negotiate.
Peskov noted that Russia's position on peace had previously been rejected by "Europeans and Ukrainians", prompting Russian President Vladimir Putin to launch military action.
"Therefore, if we are unable to resolve the problem and achieve our goals peacefully, we will continue the special military operation and do everything necessary to protect our interests," he stressed.
Peskov also touched on the current state visit of Putin in India. He pointed out that India has a "quite balanced approach and is for peace" and that Moscow has the opportunity to discuss all the nuances of its position during the dialogue between Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
