Israel launched a new series of strikes on southern Lebanon on the night of December 9, it became clear from a message from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Telegram.
The targets were Hezbollah military sites, the statement said. The strikes targeted a training camp that Israel said was used to train fighters from the Radwan special forces. The Israeli military said the deployment of these facilities in the border areas and the conduct of military training there violated the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon and "pose a threat to the state of Israel." They added that the country would continue to take measures to address all threats it faces. Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen TV reported that a series of Israeli airstrikes had been carried out in the Iqlim al-Tufa area in the south of the country. Israel carried out an airstrike on the capital Beirut in late November. An Israeli source told CNN that the target of the attack was Haitham Ali Tabatabai, Hezbollah's chief of staff and de facto second-in-command. He was killed, and the movement confirmed his death. Four Hezbollah fighters were also killed in the strike.
