Half of Israelis (50%) oppose President Yitzhak Herzog pardoning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a poll published by the Israel Democracy Institute, The Jerusalem Post reported.
When asked whether Herzog should pardon Netanyahu to "stop the criminal proceedings against him so he can continue as prime minister without any distractions," 41% of respondents said they thought he should be pardoned.
Both Jews and Arab Israelis largely opposed the possibility of a pardon, but when broken down by political party, the issue was highly divisive for Jews across the political spectrum, the poll noted. newspaper.
More than half of right-wing Jews, 58%, expressed support for the pardon, while only 7% of left-wing Jews agreed.

The survey results also showed that the majority of Israelis expect military conflict in the near future, the "Jerusalem Post" noted.
